{ Work in Progress }

My first mock up: Too long and skinny. Not cute enough.

My second mock up: Shape much rounder, like a juvenile animal.

First factory sample: Head is very large, ears look like a rabbit's. Not happy with the tongue.

Final creature: Aardbark the Aardvark with dinky saddle pockets, and no tongue.

Having the nation of Mali as our inspiration for summer 2015 gave me the opportunity (excuse) to design this delightful African creature. These pictures show the stages of fine tuning the shape and where possible, using the closest colours and fabrics to the final design that I could find.

The name is courtesy of my son Cato.
