Reknowned Australian artist Frank Dale is undoubtedly one of my favourite abstract painters. I was lucky enough to see a painting of his up-close in a private home and was really blown away by the radiance of colours and light it seemed to emit. The caramel thick varnish Frank uses makes me want to stick my finger in it and try and taste it – perhaps they remind me of childhood toffees? In other darker paintings I find myself wanting to dive into it, like a cool underwater cave – it makes me want to swim and explore the space. I imagine that his works would be a real pleasure to live with and when I win lotto I might just do that.
