JAPANESE WOODBLOCK PRINTS

We're super excited about the imminent arrival in stores of our winter collection, TOKYO, Collision of Contrasts. I totally loved researching and brainstorming for this collection, so I thought I'd share one of my inspirations: Japanese woodblock prints. These prints are such a fest of inspiration, with delicate lines, harmonious shapes, and often feature detailed textile prints on clothing or fabric within the images. The colours are often extremely specific and surprising. I have been drawing inspiration from them for years so it was wonderful to have the chance to come back to them again for this collection.

Here are some examples from the famous shin-hanga artists Hashiguchi Goyo (1880-1921) and Kawase Hasui (1883-1957)...
