Seeing that Cuba is in the air, I thought I would pay homage to our Cuban staff at our Airpark warehouse. “En invierno, el almacén es frío y Cuba es caliente!”** is often heard being chanted by our workers. Great stuff! Great attitude! **“In Winter, our warehouse is cold and Cuba is hot”

At Citta Design we are always working about 6 months ahead of the seasons, I'm in the middle of our Summer of Cuba whereas the designers are moving onto our Japanese Winter. I usually can't help jumping ahead and getting inspired by the season ahead especially when I see all the pretty designs coming out of the design room! Speaking of Japan, I stumbled across these gorgeous tea bags by designer Natalia Ponomareva. As the bird infuses, the wings slowly unfold to reveal its origami bird form. It is just a design concept at this stage, but I hope it becomes a reality - what a neat idea!
When you work with a seasonal palette of 20+ colours, colour combinations are endless and at times can be a little daunting.... like today. I am stuck finding the perfect colour combination for a range of bath towels - do I go down the red route, or blues?
The blog ‘Colour Collective’ is a good go to when you’re in need of some ‘fresh air’. It is super inspirational and always sparks ideas.
Carina spoilt us today with a ridiculously delicious Chocolate & Coconut cake and I thought it would be rude not to share! And what a perfect day for cake, because it is Amy's birthday - HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMY! (Click the recipe to enlarge).
I got the handiest little tip today.. have you been on to Shoes of Prey? You can design your own shoes and they will make them for you, package them up and deliver them to your home! It's a lot of fun, you get to pick colour and style, ballet flats or heels, bows, sequins, even snake skin if that's your thing! Could be some wedding shoes on their way for me, if I can make up my mind that is....
Prep work for our Summer 2011 photo shoot ' Viva la Cuba' is underway! Amy and Carina got stuck into painting backdrops this morning, props are being finalized and samples are waiting to be packed.
Love a film with a colour-scheme of its own. Here are some images from the film Heartbreaker starring Vanessa Paradis. A fun light film, with lovely colours!
I recently discovered The Caker by picking up one of her mouth watering postcards at Coco's Cantina. Yummy looking cakes baked to order and I was so pleased to see that there is a great selection for gluten free! It's birthday time for me this week so what a perfect opportunity to try it out...
This weeks 'Cake of the Week' is Chocolate Blueberry cake (gluten free)
Pretty! I love sprinkles.
'Honey Im Home Cake' - Honey Cake with Honey
Vanilla Buttercream and Sticky Almonds.
The perfect gift for a cake lover! Citta Design Yum tea towel
When I saw Teresa's post about the 'Urban Knitting' I laughed! One of the posts I had up my sleeve was right up that alley ('scuse the pun), but in a more abstract way... Check out these delightful and creative solutions to urban decay in Paris, made by Juliana Santacruz Herrera. Fed up with how broken and gloomy the neighbourhood looked, she decided to take her knitting and crochet skills to the streets!
Back in the mid 1980's my mum decided to knit me a jumper, I was allowed to pick whatever pattern I liked. I chose a cream roll neck with cable stitching on the front & sleeves. Although mum was accurate, she wasn't speedy, so by the time it was completed, it was a 3/4 sleeve on me. Luckily, I have 2 younger sisters - so there was always a place for a hand-me-down in our house.
I've been thinking about taking up knitting, but not the nana scratchy sweater variety, perhaps I'll get into some 'Urban Knitting', said to be the most inoffensive grafitti around - what do you think?
