This beautiful hand woven wall hanging, created over a period of five days by New Friends. Created on a custom loom, the piece reaches from floor to ceiling, measuring a total of 3m long.
Alongside their website, the New Friends Instagram page is full of photos showing works in progress, finished pieces and their beautiful use of colour and composition.

Colour of the week { LAVENDER }
A delicate, sweet colour and truly classic - its the lightest shade of purple with a hint of blue. Some may say its a little old fashioned, but we love it.

SUITCASE STORE
The pop-up store has seen a revival - far from the cheap pop-up stores that used to spring up seasonally selling naff Christmas gifts or dodgy clothing - these new, designer, independent stores sell covetable items for the home and wardrobe.
Mainly opened by the smaller, independent
brands as a way of testing the retail environment with a temporary store, we’re
now seeing bigger companies taking their products on the road. Kiwi shoe
designer Kathryn Wilson’s ‘Shoe Box’ toured New Zealand landmarks and this
latest idea from Swedish clothing company Brothers really caught my eye.
The ‘Suitcase Store’ has been beautifully
hand-crafted in the shape of a trunk and is designed to house the brand’s new
season ‘Travel’ collection. With each part of the box measured to fit each
garment perfectly, it reflects the attention to detail the brand put into
creating their clothing. This ‘Suitcase Store’ will be set up in major airports
and train stations around Sweden.
If only we could fit our new season
collections into a perfectly proportioned pop-up house to take our Citta Design
products on the road! If we did – where would you want us to visit?

{ Spotted }
Its always exciting to see our product in the homes of artists and designers we admire, and on the blogs we follow. We spotted our tins, and a mug from a few seasons ago, in this write up on illustrator Becca O'Shea over at the Studio Home blog.
{ International Customer }
One of our International customers from Korea, Casamia, recently showcased our Londontown collection to a select number of media, buyers and influential bloggers. We were excited to hear that the product was very well received, and that Casamia hope to make us as popular as Marimekko!!

Leo Caillards series 'Hipsters in Stone'.
Although we used Greek statues in our Summer 2013/14 photoshoot, we used a real life model for the clothing shots. Perhaps we should have used statues like Leo has...

Doesn't this space look so peaceful, muted and cosy? It makes me want to curl
up under those sheets and hibernate for a weekend! I wonder what it would look
like with a bit of Citta Design goodness added –– such as these gorgeous cushions
and sweet cotton PJs...

A monthly feature showcasing Citta Design product in the homes of Citta Designers - not only do they design the product, they love to own the product too!
Carina bought these 'Handy' cereal bowls from the Summer Loves Mexico collection of Summer 2010. They sit next to her favourite Rachel Carley cake plates and are a favourite bowl for her morning cereal.

Colour of the Week { HOT PINK }
How delicious is this colour?? Hot Pink. Totally amazing, and a little bit rock n roll.
Think Pop Art and the Sex Pistols. Hot pink is graphic and vibrant, a statement colour 100% appropriate for our Winter collection, Londontown.

This week in the Office...
This week has seen late nights laying out, coding, re-sizing and re-touching images for the wholesale catalogue. Once this gets sent to print, Emma gets creative with the customer catalogue.
In-between all the busy-ness, the girls found time to decorate Jess' desk for a birthday surprise. Happy BIrthday Jess!!

Styling inspiration from quirky swimwear brand Project 104
Fun new British swimwear brand Project 104 have styled some playful photographs to illustrate the uniqueness of their products and launch their first collection. The name ‘Project’ relates to the different themes they base their collections around each season and ‘104’ is the maximum number any print can be produced in a particular style – just like a piece of art. The theme for this shoot was ‘My body is my temple’ - we’re loving the fun and detailed styling around each swim suit and the idea of mixing art, fashion and design.

{ DESIGN POST }
I have been coveting this Kirra Jamison painting for many months now. The organic floral shapes, colour combinations and composition are just perfect. I can picture this painting (from the series 'Love me two times') hung on the wall overlooking my dining table - the perfect spot to sit and admire it while eating breakfast or sipping a cup of tea.
Based in Melbourne, Australia, Kirra Jamison uses brightly colour gouache and vinyl to create her painting. Her work is inspired by textile designs from the '50s, '60s and '70s.

Colour of the Week { JADE }
We are starting this series with the colour we call JADE. This has been one of the most popular colours in our Winter 2013 collection, so it only seemed appropriate to begin with this.
When putting together the seasonal colour palette, head designer Imogen was drawn to the bursts of green which frequently pop up in and around London. The colour is rich and vibrant - the perfect little burst for a dreary winters day.

{ This week in the Office }
Another visit from a furry friend. This week an Italian Greyhound named Vita came to see us.
On another note, we have been working on ideas to improve our blog. From next week expect to see weekly regular features covering all of the exciting going-ons from the design room, and monthly posts from our fabulous design team.

WIP { Work in Progress }
We have been busy spewing out idea for our Winter 2014 collection. The cupboards behind our desks have become a temporary pin board, giving us an overall feel for how our ideas are working, and how cohesive the range will look.
Today was a process of elimination, pulling out designs which weren't working and making notes on colour, scale and form for ideas which were.
Although we are still in the beginning stages, the collection is starting to look really exciting. Keep watch for further sneak peeks in the future.
