Dreaming of Far Away Places

While dreaming of far away places and checking out one of my favourite blog inspirations, Rifle Paper Co., I came across this amazing place in Turkey! What an incredible landscape! These rock hotels are something completely new to my eyes - a reminder that there are so many stunning and inspiring places in this beautiful world.

Parmesan Pencils!

If there are two things in this world I love, it's great packaging design and cheese. This Germany-based ad agency Kolle Rebbe have come up with a super cool and practical design of pencil shaped parmesan that you grate with the included pencil sharpener. The coloured centres (in place of the lead) are actually flavoured - truffle, pesto and chilli! The packaging even provides calorie count in relation to the length used. Unfortunately I will never get my hands on a pack of these wonderful 'pencils' as the limited run of 500 pack sold out in two weeks!

Bikes & Type

I'm moving to the beach soon & I've got a cruiser bike on my Christmas list. I'd love it if one of these appears under the tree. Type & Bikes - what's not to like?! This is from a project by Juri Zaech.

(all) BLACK FRIDAY!

For those of you living in a Rugby-mad nation you will know what today is! I thought the day couldn't pass without an All Black inspired blog.

The sun is shining here in Auckland and we're all excited about knocking off early from work and either heading to the opening game or down to the waterfront to watch 20 Waka arriving at the viaduct, 600 Kaihoe performing the haka and the largest firework show in the history of NZ!

Why am I still at work you ask? ... not for long!

Citrine - the New Fluoro Pink?

Citrine, acid yellow, fluoro yellow - whatever you call these crazy and fabulous yellows they can't help but be noticed. I love the way they can be a bright and lurid statement, or soft and muted (think faded vintage). They're wacky and wonderful and I love them!

Look out for hints of citrine in future Citta Design collections.

Appreciation for Quentin Blake...

Along with Andy Warhol's early illustration work, I think Quentin Blake has been one of the most influential artists in my life. I spend as much time looking at his illustrations as I do reading the text; they contribute equally in importance to the story line. His drawing style seems flippant, but every tiny line is significant and can change the personality of a character.
Full of wit, humour and whimsy, I imagine he has a lot of fun whilst he's illustrating and it shows.

WORLD OF COLOUR BLOCKING

After spending some time at NZ Fashion Week, doing lots of shoe shopping and working on our own forthcoming collection, I'm beginning to feel like the whole world has gone colour blocking crazy!
What has long been a signature for brands like United Colours of Benetton and Mondrian has been taken to full-blown fashion fad by our friends at WORLD.  The irreverent/iconic NZ fashion brand are on trend with this capsule collection for Number One Shoes, colour block fashion at super affordable prices.

Midnight In Paris

Ohh la la! Last night I was lucky enough to attend a sneak viewing of Woody Allen's new film Midnight In Paris. The directors quirky wit was perfectly expressed through the leading role, played by Owen Wilson, a writer struggling with a spot of writers block. Without giving too much away, Gil (Owen Wilson) transports and transforms his life through a series of wonderfully romantic and intellectual encounters. The scene with Salvador Dali (Adrien Body) is superb! Highly recommend!
